Pezeshkian: Iran Seeks Peaceful Nuclear Technology, Not Nuclear Weapons

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Pezeshkian rejected claims that the Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, saying Iran's objective is to develop and use peaceful nuclear knowledge and technology.

“The claims that the Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons are an illusion. Iran’s objective is to acquire and benefit from peaceful nuclear knowledge and technologies, not to produce nuclear weapons.”

Guterres also said that, based on the assessments available to the United Nations, he believes Iran is not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

“Based on the assessments available to us, I consider that Iran is not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.”/President.ir
