Kiarostami's 'Ten' screened in Malaysia

EghtesadOnline: To commemorate Iranian prominent filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, Malaysian Film Club called Kelab Seni Filem screened his 'Ten' on Friday night.

Referring to some well-known features of Kiarostami's works, one of Malaysian Film Club's members Vang Chiong told IRNA that more works of Kiarostami are to be shown in Malaysia during upcoming months.

Offering regret for Kiarostami's demise, he expressed hope that Iran's support would enable Malaysia in providing grounds to know Kiarostami well.

Kiarostami, 76, succumbed to death in Paris, France, on July 4 after fighting gastrointestinal cancer for four months. He was in France for further treatments.

Kiarostami was the only Iranian filmmaker who won the Palme D'Or, the top prize at Cannes, with his 1997 film Taste of Cherry, a film to appreciate life in a delicate way based on Iranian values.

Kiarostami had also been invited to join the Academy Awards members on June 29.

The movie 'Ten' was among 500 world top movies in 2008.
