Iran to concede contract management projects to India in Chabahar port

EghtesadOnline: Visiting Iranian senior Presidential aide Akbar Torkan said here on Wednesday that Iran is seeking to concede the contract management of some projects in southeastern port of Chabahar to India.

Talking to IRNA, Torkan said the contract management of the projects would be conceded to the Indian side based on a certain period and accurate formula.

He added the agreement has been inked during the recent visit of Indian shipping minister to Tehran.

Torkan noted Tehran, Kabul and New Delihi have also agreed over the transportation of the Indian giant ships in Chabahar port, but the move has not initialized yet.

He reiterated that Chabahar port has the loading and unloading capacity of 85,000 tons of goods and the ships with higher tonnage capacities can berth in this Iranian port.

Commenting on the importance of making investment in the southeast Makran coast and the eastern Iranian regions, he added increasing the capacity of Chabahar transit port is among the top priorities of Iranian government.
